Our Story

Play Corner was founded by parents for other parents and their kids.   We started our journey with video.  As we watched our toddler’s intuitive use of touch-screen devices, and the tremendous learning curve in his language development from watching educational videos on YouTube, we knew that there was something to this.  However, typical user-generated content video sites (and their mobile apps) are not made for kids.  The content is not necessarily appropriate for little ears and eyes, and the design is not made for this age group, who, barring the occasional genius, is not yet able to read or type.  That’s where we come in:  we want to make video consumption a much easier, safer, and educational activity on a mobile device.

We’re also now expanding our app portfolio to embrace learning different subjects such as music and other classroom topics.  Our new initiatives are under development, but sign up for our mailing list if you’d like to keep up to date.

PlayCorner TV

PlayCorner TV enables safe and educational video content discovery for your child.

PlayCorner TV is a guided tour of YouTube, enabling your toddler or preschooler to navigate preset searches on YouTube that are safe (inappropriateness is filtered out) and targeted towards educational concepts.  No more stumbling upon inappropriate related videos or struggling to find the perfect video for your child.  We’ve done that work for you!

Features include:

Safe: All video search results are filtered to return only safe content to your child. No more stumbling upon inappropriate or explicit content.

Kid-Friendly Design: Simple menu and image-based navigation, specifically designed for kids that don’t yet read or type.

Educational: Videos are carefully chosen by early childhood education experts to optimize educational content. Kids can choose from a variety of options such as different types of animals, favorite characters, and learning concepts such as the alphabet, types of transportation, or math.

Fun: Featured content category which showcases seasonal and holiday videos or other fun topics.

Quick Access to Favorite Videos: App adjusts the order of the viewing categories based on child’s interest level. For example, the animal that your child has watched the most will appear first on the list in the Choose tab. Child can also select videos from their viewing history in the History tab.

Parental Controls: In the protected Parents tab that is not accessible to children, parents can block a video from their device if it suits them, unblock the video to put it back, review any blocked videos, and report a video to PlayCorner. Parents can also share the app with their friends!

PlayCorner Music

Kids can begin learning music at a very young age.  You just need to give them the right tools.

The PlayCorner Piano app gives parents an effective way to get their little one started in piano.  We have partnered with the best and brightest musical educators to bring piano education to the small screen.
